I remember as a kid making my own snowflakes with just scissors and copy paper. It’s so fun to be able to make your own ornaments and decorations. It lets kids feel more independent.

Your kids could make DIY crosses out of sticks and strings. They could make a standard ornament with copy paper or construction paper, scissors, and markers.

3. Homemade Christmas Cookies

Still to this day I love to make homemade Christmas cookies! I know as a kid being able to make the cookie dough and choose which shapes to make them into was s enjoyable. Then being able to actually eat what you made is so fulfilling and fun.

It’s so special to decorate the house as a family. Kids also love to be able to decorate their own room and space with whatever decorations they would like (because you might not want DIY snowflakes all over the house).

6. Build A Snowman

Building a snowman can be so fun for the kids and even the adults too! Of course, this depends on the area you live in. The area I currently live in has little to no snow. If you are like me and don’t get snow during this time you can try fake snow.

Decorating Gingerbread houses are apart of my Christmas traditions (that you can read about here) and I’m incorporating that for my daughter now too. You can make any design that you want and have fun with it. It doesn’t have to be perfect if you don’t want it to be.

8. Have A Christmas Party

Christmas shopping doesn’t have to be stressful! Allow your kids to help pick out presents and make a game out of it. I personally would rather shop online and if you are similar, there are link for great deals on gifts down below. Let your kids have fun and don’t worry about tantrums or trying to get out of the house!

Gift wrapping can be so fun (for me at least). I have always had fun wrapping gifts and I think your kids can too if you are patient and teach them how. Let your kids pick out what print the gift wrapper will have. There are so many options. Here are some cute ones down below.

Make a competition out of it by seeing which kid can finish first or to see which one wrapped the best!

11. Volunteer

I can still remember volunteering at Christmas time as a kid. It stuck with me because it was a beautiful thing to help people in need. Christmas time isn’t always a joyful time for some people. Giving your time, gifts, money, and love to those who need it are great things to teach your kids to do and show them and others the love of Christ.

12. Watch Christmas Movies

Christmas movies are great for your kids! Some of my favorites are It’s A Wonderful Life, Home Alone, Elf, The Grinch, and A Charlie Brown Christmas. These are all good options for your kids to watch this Christmas season.

When I was a kid, my dad and I made a DIY snow globe out of a mason jar and random other pretty decorations that you could buy at Dollar Tree (you don’t have to break the bank to make these). Here are some kits that give you all that you need if you would rather buy everything in one place.

16. Make Up Dances To Christmas Songs

My childhood best friend and I would make up dances at school to Christmas music so we could make a show for our families. That is such a fun memory that I will always have. Your kids can make up dances for the adults or the whole family can do it together.

17. Christmas Play

A lot of schools or churches will have Christmas plays, but if not you can set one up for your kids and let someone be the director, costume designer, someone in charge of the lighting, etc. This can be a long fun project to put together.

18. Christmas Pictures

Family photos during Christmas time can be stressful! It doesn’t need to be and can be fun. Have your kids pick out their own outfits (with your input of course) and do a fun activity just like in the picture above.
